Vitamins to School Children in Nicarauga
Working in conjunction with La Esperanza Granada who's mission is to
provide opportunities and resources for the long term educational
advancement and community development of four Nicaraguan Pueblos, forty
thousand chewable multi vitamins were delivered to Nicaragua in March.
Nutrition is a major issue in Nicaragua. While there is plenty of food
to eat and the children are not starving, they do not get the proper mix
of vitamins and minerals necessary for proper growth and development.
This deficiency is both physical and also mental (i.e. brain development).
With the introduction of a chewable multi-vitamin the child is now able
to benefit from a balanced diet.
The pictures below show 2 of the 4 schools. One of the poorest is the
village school in La Prusia with 135 students and Elba Zamoro in the
village of El Pichote with 90 students.
As you can see in the photos, vitamin time is a much anticipated time of
day for the children.
